One of LORI's strategic goals is promotion of queer and feminist culture, thus Queer and feminist culture is one of its pillar programs.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Croatia, queer and feminist culture are often underrepresented, do not have systematic support, their visibility is marginalised, and therefore the public is not familiar (enough) with them.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, LORI intends to bring the concepts of queer and feminism closer to the public through artistic content and constructive discussions, so that it can exercise critical thinking about these topics, reflect on queer and feminist concepts, and gain insight into the development and impact of this culture. The purpose of these educational plays with various topics regarding life and difficulties faced by LGBTIQ+ people was to encourage the audience to see the necessity of accepting diversity, as opposed to the violence and discrimination present. They were shown in seven cities across Croatia (and in Ljubljana).<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-check\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/lori.hr\/en\/tribina-o-lezbijkama-i-biseksualnim-zenama-u-svjetskoj-knjizevnosti\/\">literary evenings<\/a><\/b> (e.g. on the visibility of lesbians and bisexual women in world literature); <a href=\"https:\/\/lori.hr\/en\/predstavljanje-romana-izgnani-autorice-ivane-delac\/\">presentations of books on queer topics<\/a>; a <a href=\"https:\/\/lori.hr\/en\/izabrane-najljepse-price-u-duginim-bojama\/\">short story writing contest on LGBT topics<\/a> for authors from Croatia (2014.),<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-check\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">queer poetry evenings <a href=\"https:\/\/lori.hr\/en\/lori-nastavlja-s-queer-poezijom\/\"><b>Kvir poetRI<\/b><\/a> (since 2015), with the aim of promoting and developing Rijeka queer cultural scene \u2013 where published authors such as Jelena Tondini, Kristina Posilovi\u0107 and Nora Verde read their verses as well,<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-check\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lori.hr\/en\/smoqua\/\"><b>The Festival of Queer and Feminist Culture Smoqua<\/b><\/a>: since 2017, LORI has been organising Smoqua with PaRiter (during the first couple of editions also with other collaborating associations: From the Citizens to Their City and the Centre for Women's Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka).<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-efcd69f elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"efcd69f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9bb1224 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"9bb1224\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bfe3b24 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-child\" data-id=\"bfe3b24\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8d739c6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8d739c6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Festival of Queer and Feminist Culture Smoqua is perhaps the most visible part of the programme Queer and Feminist Culture.
