The 8th Festival of Queer and Feminist Culture Smoqua,<\/a> from October 10th to 12th, invites you to explore a bold, beautiful and boundary-pushing celebration of queer and feminist art. From exhibition to performance and film, we can explore power, diversity, and resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FRIDAY, October 11th<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Performance: Hair, Stones and Voices, Shahrzad Nazarpour \/\/ 18.30 \u2013 19.00 \/\/ O.K. Gallery, Kre\u0161imirova 26<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Young Iranian-Austrian artist explores revolutionary forms of existence, addressing issues of resistance and freedom, with a focus on the emancipation of FLINTA* persons in Iran and Afghanistan.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shahrzad Nazarpour<\/strong> has been creating this performance series since 2020. In her work, she deals with themes such as political bodies, colonial fantasies, and various forms of discrimination by combining theatre, dance, and performance art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is organised with the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum Zagreb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Various objects and artworks symbolise important milestones in the endless process of coming out. Authors Jan Franjul and Mario Buleti\u0107 show quotes, physical objects, photos and videos and encourage the audience to share their own story or donate an object that represents it. The exhibition is open until October 15th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jan Franjul<\/strong> works in the independent art and culture sector, focusing on artivism, the intersection of art, culture, and activism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mario Buleti\u0107<\/strong>, museum advisor at the Ethnographic Museum of Istria, specializes in critical museology, everyday ethnography, digital environments, and social inclusivity through museum theory and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Film: Common as Red Hair \/\/ 20.30 \u2013 21.00 \/\/ Art-kino Croatia, Kre\u0161imirova 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The award-winning American short film is a moving story on medical interventions performed on intersex infants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Author and director of the film is Robbie Robertson<\/a>, a playwright and screenwriter whose screenplays have placed in several national competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Executive producer, Kimberly Zieselman<\/a>, is an intersex woman, lawyer, and human rights advocate with extensive experience advocating for intersex rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the movie, from 9 pm to 10 pm, executive producer talks with intersex activists Erin Vlahovi\u0107 (Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice) and Kristian Ran\u0111elovi\u0107 (XY Spectrum).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
