The Festival of Queer and Feminist Culture Smoqua has, for nine years now, shown that culture and activism can intertwine with sustainability, community care, and plenty of fun. From October 9 to 11, 2025, Rijeka will host a rich program that goes far beyond workshops, talks, and artistic content – expanding into all those practices that make Smoqua what it is: responsible, inclusive, and above all, rebellious.

Smoqua loves nature! 🌍 That’s why, in cooperation with HŽ Passenger Transport, we’re offering a 40% discount on return train tickets if you’re coming from Croatia or Slovenia (for distances of 25+ km). Just say you’re travelling to the Festival Smoqua when buying your ticket, and at our info desk in Palach, validate it with the LORI stamp. Travel green, dance in colour!
Our posters and flyers are always printed by Adria Print on recycled paper. If you spot one on the ground, pick it up – every small step makes a difference.
🍷 Local flavors, global love
Smoqua brings people, ideas – and, of course, tastes – together! This year you can once again enjoy Tudor wines and Smokvica and Fiumanka liqueurs, warming up our gatherings. Because nothing connects quite like a glass of wine and a good queer story. Thank you, OPG Davor Tudor and Suza T.B. 💜
🌸 Breaking Taboos
Our fight includes subjects that have been silenced for too long. At the festival booth we’ll be sharing Intimina menstrual cups,, because we want to reduce period poverty and speak openly about health. And thanks to LELO , we’ll also be giving away intimate products that help us talk about sexuality without shame or stigma. Stop by before they’re all gone 😉
🏳️🌈 Inclusion in Action
Part of the Smoqua program is dedicated to work, rights, and safe, inclusive spaces. Representatives of institutions, associations, and employers will talk about the policies they implement, with IKEA and Decathlon joining us to talk about how they build communities where everyone can feel accepted.
