This year’s Smoqua Festival takes place in Rijeka from October 1st to 3rd, and the second festival evening we are at Kalvarija (Ri Teatar) with a diverse programme. The repertoire includes: LELO quiz on sexuality with great prizes, a screening of the witty short film The Rebellion of Lesbian Jacobins, and the dance performance What Colour is Truth?.

How much do you actually know about sexuality, reproductive health, and the human body? Gather a team of up to five people and join a fun pub quiz that combines learning, laughter, and hanging out. On-site registration only—early arrival is recommended due to limited capacity The top teams will win valuable LELO prizes, and a great time is guaranteed for everyone! 😊
20:00–20:30 | Short Film Screening: The Rebellion of Lesbian Jacobins & Q&A with authors
Set in 18th-century rural Hungary, this witty short film directed by Mária Takács follows a group of lesbian Jacobins living out the ideals of the French Revolution—liberty, equality, and sisterhood. Produced by the Hungarian organization Labrisz, the film reinterprets a fascinating chapter of Hungarian history through humour and a queer lens.
Q&A with authors(s) follows the screening.
20:30–21:15 | Performance: What Colour is Truth?
Choreographed and created by artist Mateo Babić and produced by organisation Proces, this dance performance addresses the pathologization of sexual orientation and attempts to alter it through so-called "conversion therapy." Through the body and movement, the performance opens up a space for dialogue on the experiences of LGBTIQ+ survivors of these harmful practices—where the body becomes a voice speaking out where language once tried to enforce silence.
