During Smoqua³ festival (May 23 – 25, 2019) in Rijeka you will have the opportunity to participate in several workshops that in different ways connect art and activism, stimulating questioning of social and gender norms. The workshops leaders are experts in their fields and they transfer the knowledge and deconstruct the steadiness in interesting and innovative ways.
Drumming workshop, Selena Simić (RS)

At this workshop, girls and women will have the opportunity to learn the basics of drum playing and how to use them in activism and on the street. The workshop is also conceived as some kind of teambuilding for everyone interested because at the end of the workshop the participants will play a short composition together.
Selena Simić is an activist and drummer, one of the organizers of the Rock Camp for girls (the first one of this kind in the region), who also helps the female drum band Bubnjarke sa ulice, which participates in the Belgrade 8th March marches. She plays in several female bands, one of which is Nemesis, the only female death metal band in Serbia.

Introducing activism through non-formal education, Aikaterini Manousaki (Active Rainbow) (GR)

Get to know more about non-formal methods of learning and how to use them as a tool to promote the inclusion of the LGBTQ + spectrum! Plus, learn to use informal tools (body work, media, games, discussions) in activism, question the existing normative and exchange the possibilities for experiences through the Erasmus + program.
Cathy (Aikaterini) Manousaki is a youth trainer, facilitator and educator for human rights and media working in fields of human resources development, various forms of education, mentoring, as well as the LGBTQIA + spectrum, gender issues, self-expression, inclusion, active citizenship and social sustainability. She is the founder of the Active Rainbow educational platform, which aim is to raise awareness of human rights and the LGBTQIA + spectrum, and increase the visibility of non-formal education as a means of promoting social inclusion and active citizenship.

Manada (“herd“) is a set of methodologies that is activated with different groups and situations to create a space of trust, care and physical comfort in order to reach a sense of community and collective knowledge through technological, transfeminist and posthumanistic approach to the body.
Azahara Ubera is an independent researcher, dancer and choreographer that inhabits in the liminal spaces of dance, sound, pedagogy and activism.
Why did Baby got to dance with Johnny? - abortion in movies and TV series, Karolina Wieckiewicz (PL)

At this workshop you will have the opportunity to question and review how abortion is perceived and presented in cinematography, how it was shown before, and how that image and perception fit not only into the frame of norms, normality and normativity, but also normalization. Karolina Wieckiewicz is a Polish activist for LGBT rights and right to abortion. She is a member of the Abortion Dream Team and program officer at Lambda Warsaw. In her work she focuses on normalization and destigmatization of abortion experience.
