Training course for LGBTIQ+ youth from Croatia and Slovenia – successfully checked

From 24 to 28 of February 2023 LORI has conducted a training course 'Youth for Social Changes!' that gathered some wonderful LGBTIQ+ young people from Croatia and Slovenia! Together they have learned about active participation through practice, tasks and examples. Along with project partners, Pride Parade Association from Ljubljana as well as with experienced youth trainers and guest speakers, our intention was to empower the youth for conducting public actions in their local communities.

The training programme covered various LGBTIQ+ topics in terms of public action and activism: discrimination and violence, existing legislation, hate speech, cyber bullying creating safe(r) space, organising public actions and protests, social media as helpful tools in fight for human rights.

Through discussions, exercises, group work, 12 young persons have gotten empowered for acting in activism, while starting designing and preparing initiative(s) that they would conduct by the end of the project. We cannot wait for the continuation of collaboration, connecting and building new alliances! 🙂

Some ad hoc actions have already been prepared and executed by the groups during the training, and here is a brief “teaser”: an urban intervention, reactions on social media on (institutional) transphobia.

The training was held as part of the project ‘Youth Voices for Social Changes’  conducted by Lesbian Organisation Rijeka – LORI and partner organisation Pride Parade Association.

Project ‘Youth Voices for Social Changes’ is conducted by Project Coordinator Lesbian Organisation Rijeka – LORI and partner organisation Pride Parade Association from April 2022 until the end of November 2023. The project is worth 60.000 €, ensured through the financial support of European Union's Erasmus + Programme.
